This Certificate program, jointly administered by the School of Forest Resources and Enviromental Science (SFRES)
and the School of Business and Economics (SBE), is designed to give students a very basic working
knowledge of Forestry and Wood Products and Business and Management.
BSBA majors earn the Certificate if they complete FW1035 Wood Anatomy and Properties (3 credits),
FW2010 Vegetation of North America (4), FW2050 Measuring Forest Resources (3) and FW3098 Mill Tour
and Seminar (2).
SFRES students earn this Certificate if they complete EC3001 Principles of Economics (3), EC3400
Economic Decision Analysis (3), BA2330 Accounting I (3), and BA3620 Project Management (3).
BSBA students planning careers in the forestry and enviromental sciences industries should consider this Certificate since it provides them with a technical background in forestry that allows them to communicate with forestry and wood product professionals.
SFRES students should consider this Certificate if they intend to eventually move into a management position in the forestry and wood products industries.
SFRES students are the main clientele of this Certificate program. Depending upon their degree option, they find employment with state and federal governmental organizations dealing with natural resource utilization, with private forestry enterprises, and wood processing industries.
