At approximately 10:00 a.m., University Commencement Marshal, Dr. Mari Buche, will call all departmental faculty marshals to the center of the Multipurpose Room for a brief check-in to ensure each departmental faculty marshal is in attendance and to answer any questions.

An interactive seating chart may be found on the commencement website the week prior to the ceremony.

Presentation of Degrees

When called, Advisors will walk their Ph.D. candidates to the stage. Ph.D. candidates will carry their hoods and will hand them to the Advisor for the onstage hooding. Advisors will hood their graduate(s) with assistance from their respective dean. After the hooding, Ph.D. candidates will continue across the stage to receive their diploma from the University President. After the hooding, Advisors will return to their seat via the ramp behind the stairs used to approach the platform.

Departmental Marshals should remain seated with their degree candidates until their row is next in line to approach the platform. The Departmental Marshals will lead their degree candidates to the stage and remain at the stage entrance until all degree candidates have passed. Marshals may then return to their seat for the remainder of the ceremony.

Thank you for your participation in this celebration!
